Here are a few details of this ceremony to take place on October 9th. Weather permitting, the actual service will take place around the War Memorial and the Band of the Mercian Regiment will be providing the music. If the weather is bad, most of the service will be in the Church. There should be plenty of photo opportunities, as attendees will be asked to wear their decorations and various dignitaries will be present (Bishop/ Mayor, etc). There will be some refreshments afterwards and then a military band concert in the church. As far as I am aware, there is no charge for any of this, but it is possible that donations may be invited.
As you might know, car parking is in short supply near the Church and there is NO PARKING on the day in Church Road, but the Swan pub and the Rock garage have made their space available, also the Two Greens at the top of Old Hill. There may be some on-road parking in Old Hill.
Thanks to Alan Parkin for the above information.
