Charlie Maber by Eddie Hickey

It is with great sadness that I have to relay the news that our longest regular member Charles Maber passed away on the 12th of November.

His Funeral will be at the United Reform Church, Tettenhall Wood on Thursday the 4th December at 1.15 pm.

Charlie served in the RAF in Burma during the Second World War. He was the Chairman of the Wolverhampton Burma Star Association. Don Clarke made a film in 2012 about the Burma Veterans because he felt that they were the forgotten army. This has been shown at the Lighthouse and hopes it will go on the main cinema circuit.

In the 1950’s and 60’s he ran a wedding protography business. The club will always remenber his slightly cheeky humour and will greatly miss him.

Charlie is survived by his wife Beryl, daughter Michelle and son John.
